Visit us
Mound Books is located between Edinburgh theological Seminary (formerly The Free Church College) and New College (University of Edinburgh's theology department building).
Our location is unique not only in being located right in the heart of Scotland's capital but also our (very) close proximity to one of the Scotland's most popular tourist destinations, Edinburgh Castle.
Our shop is also situated right across the hallway from 'Cafe on the Mound', so if you are having an indecisive moment about whether to buy that book in your hand or not, then why not head across the hall, make your decision over a cup of coffee, and then come back and complete your purchase.
By Train
Our shop is less than a five minute walk from Edinburgh's Waverley railway station, which has direct links throughout both Scotland and England. Exit the station through the Market Street exit, turn right, across the mini-roundabout and walk up the hill.
By Bus or Tram
We are also within very easy reach of tram and bus links. If visiting us by tram then alight at the Princes Street stop, if traveling by bus then get off at any stop along Princes Street marked 'Scott Monument'. From both these points we are a five minute walk up the 'Mound' which ascends past the Scottish National gallery and provides excellent views of Edinburgh.
By Car
Edinburgh has a number of city centre car parks, with varying rates per hour. However these charges are infamous for being expensive. We recommend that you use the Park and Ride facilities located around the outskirts of the city, such as Ingliston or Sheriffhall, and take the bus or tram into the centre. This will save you a penny or two.
