The Theology and Theologians of Scotland 1560-1750

This volume has been described by Dr. John MacLeod, himself the author of a book on Scottish theology, as “…a masterly work…in its own department, a classic”. 

Walker begins with a survey of the leading Scottish theologians and their works and then goes on to examine their contribution to our understanding of such doctrines as predestination, the atonement, and the visible church.

In an introduction to this reprint Professor Donald MacLeod speaks of two services the book will perform: “1) It will introduce us to men to whose reputation history has done a gross disservice and enable us to judge them for ourselves. 2). It will enrich our thinking on many of the issues of our own day. The questions which these old Scottish theologians discussed are of urgent contemporary relevance”.
