This story for young teenagers is set among the stirring events of Disruption times. Government interference in the spiritual affects of the Church brought about a crisis which led to the formation of the Free Church of Scotland. Simon, a Free Church elder’s son, finds that his relationship with Annabel, a daughter of a Church of Scotland minister, is affected by the dispute, but he is determined to stick to his principles as he sees the new Church take root and prosper.
